OneCard

The MRU OneCard is the official identification card for the Mount Royal University community. You will need to bring your OneCard with you anytime you are on campus to get building access. You do not need a OneCard if you are not coming to campus or to take advantage of any remote services, including those offered by the Cougars Campus Store.

All OneCard requests are to be submitted online through MyMRU (instructions below). In-person photo submissions are not available at this time. OneCards will be available for pickup from the back door of the Cougars Campus Store Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Look for signage when you get to the Campus Store directing you to this entrance. You will receive a confirmation email when your OneCard is ready for pickup. You do not need to book an appointment but please wait to receive your confirmation email and bring government-issued photo ID to pick up your card.

We recommend you park in Lot 2 (free parking for 30-minutes through the HotSpot app), walk to the West Gate entrance, press the intercom for entry and proceed to the Campus Store. View our parking map for lot locations.

OneCard for new students

To get a OneCard, submit your photo to mru.ca/photo and complete the cardholder agreement form. Be sure to follow the photo guidelines provided under question 3 of the OneCard FAQ . You will receive an email confirmation when your card is ready for pickup. Please allow a minimum of three business days for processing.

OneCard for returning students

If you are a returning student with a OneCard that has an April 2020 expiry, it has been automatically renewed until April 2021. You do not need to come to campus to get a validation sticker and your OneCard will function as usual.

If you are a returning student and your OneCard is lost, stolen or damaged, we can issue a replacement card. There is a $20 fee on replacement cards, payable by Debit, Visa or Mastercard upon pickup. Complete the cardholder agreement form and select the replacement option when prompted. You will receive an email confirmation when your card is ready for pickup. Please allow a minimum of three business days for processing.

OneCard for nursing students

To get a nursing ID, submit your photo to mru.ca/photo and complete the nursing cardholder agreement form. Be sure to follow the photo guidelines provided under question 3 of the OneCard FAQ. You will receive an email confirmation when your card is ready for pickup. Textbooks

To avoid delays, order your textbooks as early as possible!

The Spring & Summer booklist will be available soon. Once available, you can use the course list builder to check which textbooks are currently available for purchase. If your texts are available, we encourage you to purchase them in advance. If you decide to purchase your textbooks online, look for the “R” for required and “O” for optional on the booklist. Required texts are mandatory to complete the course and optional books are supplemental, recommended by the instructor.

You can wait until your first class or when you receive the class syllabus to buy your books but remember that you do not need to wait to purchase all your textbooks at once. Kindly note that used textbooks are in high demand and generally sell out quickly. To avoid delays, be sure to select "allow substitutions" when placing your textbook orders online. This means that if you select "used" but we only have new copies, we can still provide you with the book you need.

You may also experience a short delay in downloading eBooks after your credit card is charged. Please allow 24 hours after completing an order before contacting the campus store.

In some cases when using the course list builder, your course may not appear on the booklist in your search results. This is because materials for your course have not yet been selected and it’s best to wait until you receive your course syllabus to find out which materials are required. You can then search  the online booklist based on what’s included in the syllabus. You may also receive a “No Materials Required” notice in your search results which means that no texts are required for this course.

The booklist is updated regularly as we get new text requests from faculty so we encourage you to check it frequently. Be sure to review your list of registered courses and the corresponding booklist to ensure that you are buying the right books. To find your registered course schedule, head to MyMRU. Select the "Register and Pay" tab and then select "My Course Schedule". You can also find your booklist on Blackboard. Note that different sections of the same class may use different books so it’s important to know your section.

If you're having trouble navigating the Course List Builder to find your books, reference our Textbook How-To Guide for tips.

In-person shopping and on-campus pickup

The Campus Store is open for in-person shopping by appointment only.  Appointments can be booked on EventbriteYou will need your MRU student or employee ID number to book an appointment.

On-campus pickup will remain available by appointment and shipping is available for all orders. Appointment capacity for in-person shopping and on-campus pickup will be limited based on Government of Alberta guidelines.

When you arrive on campus, we recommend parking in Lot 2 (parking is free for the first 30-minutes through the HotSpot app) and proceed to the West Gate entrance. If you do not have a OneCard, use the intercom located on the wall to contact Security. Once they verify your name on the pickup list they will buzz you through. If you have a OneCard, scan your card for access to the building and proceed to the Campus Store.

In-person shopping

Students, faculty and staff will be required to book an appointment to shop in-person. The purpose of booking an appointment is to limit the amount of traffic coming to campus at any one time and alleviate waiting periods. To facilitate this safely, shopping appointments are limited to 30-minutes and available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. The number of appointment slots available will be based on capacity restrictions outlined by the Government of Alberta. We kindly ask that you arrive 15-minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so that you have the full 30-minutes to shop. Please check-in at the front entrance by showing your OneCard or government-issued photo ID upon arrival to verify your appointment time and join the line. You will be required to sanitize your hands and wear a mask when entering the Campus Store.

If you need assistance or are having difficulty finding a specific item during your shopping appointment, please ask a customer service representative for help so that you can checkout within 30-minutes. Customers will not be allowed to try on merchandise as the change rooms will be closed. Please note that only credit and debit transactions will be accepted, no cash at this time. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

Book your in-person shopping appointment now!

On-campus pickup for online orders

All on-campus pickups take place from the Cougars Campus Store. You must book your pickup appointment online in advance. Pickups take place from the back door of the Campus Store. Look for signage when you arrive at the Campus Store directing you to this entrance.

Free on-campus pickup is listed as a shipping option when placing orders online and is available to all those living in the Calgary area, including all surrounding communities within the Cochrane, Airdrie and Okotoks borders. Here's how it works:

Step 1: When you place your order online and select “on-campus pickup” under shipping options, you will receive an initial email confirming that we’ve received your order. Keep your order number handy because you will need it to select a time slot and to present when you pickup your order on-campus.

Step 2: Once we have fulfilled your order, you will receive a second confirmation email notifying you that your order is ready for pickup. This second confirmation email will include a link to a private Eventbrite page where you will select your pickup time slot. The earliest pickup opportunity will be 12-hours from when you click the Eventbrite link. You will not have access to the link or be able to book a pickup time until you receive this email. You will need your student or employee ID and order number to complete the booking process.

Step 3: You will receive a third confirmation email from Eventbrite with your digital ticket showing your time slot. While you do not need to present your digital ticket upon pickup, you do need to arrive during your selected time slot as your order may not be ready outside of that time slot.

Step 4: When you arrive on campus, please park in Lot 2 near the West Gate entrance. Parking is free for the first 30-minutes through the HotSpot app. View our parking map for the lot location. Enter at the West Gate entrance and use the intercom located on the wall to contact Security if you do not have a OneCard. Once they verify your name on the pickup list they will buzz you through. If you have a OneCard, scan your card for access to the building and proceed to the back door of the Cougars Campus Store on Main Street. A representative will be there with your order. Please have your order number and a piece of government-issued photo ID ready to show the representative upon pickup.

On-campus pickup time slots are limited based on Government of Alberta capacity guidelines.

On-campus pickups are available from the back door of the Campus Store Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
